Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA)
Identify Recognized Environmental Conditions (REC) in, on, and at a particular site or property. ESA’s are performed in accordance with the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standard E 1527-13 and the All Appropriate Inquiries Rule (AAI Rule). Phase I assessment reports generally include an historical site summary, database search, assessor documents, interviews of persons knowledgeable of site use and occupancy, and a site visit. ESA’s are most often commissioned in association with real estate transactions.
Phase II Environmental Site Investigations
Incorporate a variety of investigative field methods including test pit excavation, drilling and sampling programs, geoprobe testing, geophysical surveys, soil vapor surveys (SVS), to name a few, in detecting unidentified or unknown but suspected RECs to delineating the degree and extent of contamination from known or suspected petroleum and/or chemical release(s). Our environmental remediation services based in Flagstaff, Arizona are cost-effective, in-situ or ex-situ treatment procedures for contaminated sites.
Phase III Environmental Remediation
Projects are designed to clean up contaminants of concern (COC) as they may impact air, soil, groundwater, and other sensitive receptors such as buildings, aquifers, and areas sensitive to human health and environment. Among remedial in-situ and ex-situ techniques employed are excavation and disposal, composting, soil vapor extraction and air sparging (SVS/AS) systems, tertiary bio-remediation and oxygen release compounds (ORC), and more. The program chosen may be from work performed during ESA’s and Phase II’s or mandated by regulation under a corrective action plan (CAP).
Project Underground Storage Tank (UST)
(UST/AST) PEAKS has completed hundreds of UST/AST closures and assessments in southwest and northeast United States. Most UST systems containing fuel or chemicals have been replaced, upgraded, or removed per 1998 EPA mandate; however, systems constantly undergo monitoring; new systems are installed; and old tanks are discovered. Releases from overfilling, bad piping connections, and tank failures occur. PEAKS utilizes a variety of methods for closure, Phase II investigation, and remediation of UST/AST and associated releases.
